Good Lord
In response to this news item, I have two principal reactions:

1) Dear God — what's wrong with people? Why couldn't they take that money and do something worthwhile with it? You know — feed Africa for a year, rebuild New Orleans, something with value.

2) Wow — that would make the coolest artifact in a D&D campaign.

I wonder if Xykon would do that do his head?

Don't you know how many poor people were fed digging that platinum and those diamonds out of the earth, transporting them, refining them etc.? Someone spent 10 million dollars for a chunk of platinum and some rocks. Ten million dollars was injected into the economy and thousands of people had their living supported. In a free market, even the most outrageous eccentricities of "the rich" serve others.

Could you imagine if decendants of the guy whose head it is came after him? Would he have to undo it all? That would be kind of funny actually.

Quick! Take all the diamonds you can find in Liberia, attach them to all the skulls created finding those diamonds, and sell them on open-market, thus ironically crashing the price!
